To commemorate this years Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, Machinedrum and BEMF has released their first exclusive mix from their series. The mix is hosted by Brooklyn DJ/Producer/MC Melo-X.
English musician, DJ, Singer and music producer Mark Ronson gave an intriguing TED Talk on “The Exhilarating Creativity of Remixing”. In the talk the DJ sampled 15 TED Talks and it’s opening theme music into an amazing audio-visual mix, and trace the evolution of Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick’s 1984 hit “La Di Da Di”. The legendary 80s Hip Hop track is the fifth-most sampled track of all time and has appeared in 547 known samples to date, including Notorious B.I.G.‘s “Hypnotize” to Miley Cyrus‘ “We Like To Party”. TUFO is an experimental electronic music duo from Italy, who takes their name from the stone that built most of the Roman Empire. This remix of Massive Attack’s “Teardrop” was made with anime snippets, vocal samples from friends using analogue equipment over a period of two months. The duo will return with their sophomore Egoistic Coma EP on Five Easy Pieces, out on June 9.
Parisian producer and HW&W Recordings artist Stwo aired his latest mix this past Saturday for the Diplo & Friends show on BBC Radio 1xtra.
Stwo’s mix features Sango, Mr. Carmack, Falcons, Pomo, Kaytranada, LAKIM, Flume, Lido, Drake, Lil Kim, The Weeknd and Nas.
The Toronto jazz trio, BADBADNOTGOOD, has released their third project, III. The group includes Matthew Tavares on keys, Chester Hansen on bass, and Alexander Sowinski on drums.
